The Goal

  • Upgrade bin design and placement with premium options and clear signage to reflect Arbuthnot’s high-end brand and promote correct segregation of waste at point of disposal
  • Raise waste disposal awareness, audit contamination regularly, and keep bins clean to meet brand standard

The Problem

  • The bins does not reflect the high-end image expected within Arbuthnot spaces
  • Improper sorting of waste at source is contributing to contamination and low recycling rates
  • No waste or bins allowed for in the interior design Not compliant with Simpler Recycling legislation

The Solution

  • Retrofitted soft-close lids and continuous liner systems into existing cabinetry and new recycling stations
  • Installed bespoke Aspire Recycling Stations using materials consistent with the town hall’s fitted furniture
  • Applied behavioural-change graphics to worktops and doors to encourage correct waste disposal
  • Implemented secure confidential waste bins and aligned all waste streams in accordance to the Simpler Recycling legislation

Since implementing the solution, we’ve saved cleaning time, reduced plastic use, and cut CO₂ emissions daily.

It’s a cost-effective, on-brand sustainability initiative with a quick ROI that’s driving real recycling improvements.

The continuous liner system has also made shredded paper dis5posal in back-of-house areas more efficient.
