CBRE (M&G)

Client: CBRE (M&G) | Location: London & Other UK Sites

The Goal

  • Improve safety by replacing 240L bins with more ergonomic options
  • Reduce plastic waste by using better-fitting liners
  • Upgrade bins to align with M&G branding and improve efficiency by optimising emptying schedules

The Problem

  • Previously used 240L wheelie bins inside cabinets, creating manual handling issues for cleaning staff
  • Plastic liners overhung the bins by at least 40%, leading to significant plastic waste
  • The outdated toilet bins didn’t reflect M&G’s brand and were emptied too early, causing waste and inefficiency
  • A cleaner was injured handling oversized, heavy bins, highlighting a Health and Safety issue

The Solution

  • Introduced a wheeled frame system to hold the continuous liner, replacing 240L wheelie bins
  • Designed frames for biodegradable liners to collect coffee grounds and food waste, reducing both costs and CO₂ emissions
  • Integrated Unisort’s continuous liner system with M&G’s barcode setup, enabling accurate waste management

Customer Feedback

We’ve seen a significant improvement since the changes were implemented. The introduction of continuous liners across the site has saved hundreds of meters of plastic and reduced our CO₂ footprint by tonnes each year.

Our cleaning teams are saving time thanks to the more efficient waste system, and the manual handling issues we previously faced have been completely resolved.

On top of that, the bespoke bins perfectly align with the M&G brand, enhancing the overall look and feel of our facilities.
